People often think that the Vatican is made up of only the basilica and its neighboring buildings, but the grounds behind the main structures are actually quite large. Although you can’t visit most of the Vatican (you need a special permit to enter the Vatican grounds), this tour takes small numbers of visitors to admire the beautiful Vatican Gardens (Giardini vaticani). A visit of the Vatican Gardens means at the same time a tour of the Vatican City and allows to visitor to take a peek inside the smallest state of the world. It is also an opportunity to retrace ideally 2000 years of history, between great monuments of art works and natural wonders.

The Sistine Chapel is the crowning glory of the museum and Michelangelo’s masterpiece. Years after their restoration, conflict continues over whether too much paint was removed, flattening the figures. On the other hand, the brilliant colour has been restored. Whether you like the colours of the drapery or not, Michelangelo’s modelling of the human form is incredible. In the center of the complex design are a sequence of nine panels showing Episodes from Genesis, from the main altar to the entrance wall. They are flanked by the famous ignudi (nudes) and portray respectively: the Separation of Light and Darkness, the Creation of the sun and the moon; the Creation of Trees and Plants; the Creation of Adam. This is the central scene of the cycle, also from the pictorial point of view. The artist expresses the sublime act of creation by the simple touch of finger tips through which a real charge of vitality seems to flow from the Creator to Adam. The Creation of Eve and the Fall follow original sin is a scene divided into two parts by the tree around which is coiled the serpent with the bust of a woman; twisting to the left, she invites Adam and Eve to pick the forbidden fruit.
