ACCESSIBLE TWO-HOUR PRIVATE GUIDED TOUR OF POMPEII WITH AN ARCHAEOLOGIST

There are some touristic sites on our planet that cannot be withdrawn, places that attract visitors from all over the world you can’t wait to start their exploration after having read and heard so much about them. One of these magical places is the city of Pompeii, tragically famous for being completely buried by the eruption of the volcano that rises behind it, Mt Vesuvius. A tragedy that has left to posterity the opportunity to walk through the streets of an ancient Roman city, to see with our own eyes how these ancient Pompeians lived, worked and enjoyed themselves.

With its 3.4 million visitors last year, Pompeii is the most visited site in Italy after the Colosseum! Unfortunately, until a few months ago, this experience was closed to all visitors who are wheelchair bound. The peculiarity of the ancient and uneven roads inside the excavations made it impossible for  the visitors with motor disabilities to enjoy it.

But today, thanks to a special project recently realized by Pompeii Archaeological council and the European Union, it is possible to visit the site in a wheelchair using the special paths and platforms installed in the strategic points of the city.

Along the way it is evident the enormous effort made to remove architectural barriers  and obstacles while respecting the conservation of the important archaeological heritage: non-invasive ramps are supported on the ancient ones as in the case of steel elements shaped around the boulders, which have filled the gaps between the stone blocks. The accessible path is developing along three kilometers that begins at "Porta Anfiteatro" and proceeds along Via dell'Abbondanza, with access to the most interesting “domus” (houses) and the most significant buildings in the area between the Forum and the Amphitheater.

What is more, the leader of this Tour will be a REAL ARCHAEOLOGIST providing that added value that none of our competitors can offer!

This is a private Tour and it will last 2 hours. You’ll meet our professional English-speaking REAL Archaeologist by a pre-arranged meeting point by Pompeii Amphitheater entrance, that’s where the accessible path begins. Of course this tour can be customized to your needs and requests. Thanks to the knowledge of the scholar we have chosen to lead this tour, You'll experience Pompeii without barriers and without losing any important details.  Skip the line included in the ruins, so you will not waste time in line to buy entrance tickets. (Entrance tickets are NOT included).
